Highly qualified candidates will have 4+ years recent experience and 50+ ratings completed. The Rater will work with leading production and custom homebuilders in a real estate market in which more than 75% of new homes received HERS Ratings in 2014, without local, state or utility incentives. Day to day work will include a mix of field work (inspections and testing) and office work (energy modeling and documentation). Proficiency with Rem/Rate and Microsoft Excel is essential. Experience with green building and energy efficiency programs including EarthCraft, Energy Star, DOE Net Zero Energy Ready and PHIUS+ is helpful.
Experience with SketchUp, Wrightsoft’s Right Suite, THERM, PHPP, WUFI, BEOpt and other building science-related software is helpful, but not required. Knowledge of ACCA Manual J, S and D procedures is helpful, but not required.
Think Little will provide in-house as well as outside training opportunities on topics such as advanced diagnostic testing, Net Zero design, HVAC design, thermal bridge modeling and hygrothermal modeling.
The ideal candidate will have an inquisitive mind and a passion for buildings and how they work.
Think Little’s principle, John Semmelhack, is a leading low-energy building practitioner and teacher with extensive experience with Passive House and Net Zero energy homes. Think Little focuses on full-service building science consulting; we are as comfortable discussing the cost-benefit of low energy building with CEOs of multimillion dollar homebuilding companies as we are demonstrating air sealing techniques to tradespeople in the field. For our most successful projects, we develop building enclosure strategies in partnership with the architect/designer, design mechanical systems, inspect and test enclosures during the construction process, test and commission mechanical systems after startup, and track results to prove performance and inform our future work.
Compensation will be commensurate with experience. Please contact firstname.lastname@example.org for more information or to submit a cover letter and resume.
